Frequently Asked Questions
Top Questions
What are "fully funded" master's and doctorate programs?
Fully funded graduate programs are master's and doctoral programs that provide a full funding package to all admitted students. The package includes a full tuition scholarship and an annual stipend (typically $15K - $45K) for the duration of your enrollment. (In other words, the university is paying YOU to attend!) Fully funded graduate programs are full-time, on-campus graduate programs. The funding typically comes in the form of a Graduate Assistantship, which is a part-time job with the university that provides a salary (called a stipend) and the benefit of free tuition. Funding packages may also include health insurance, housing, childcare subsidies and other benefits. There are fully funded graduate programs in the U.S. and Canada.
What is the success rate of students in the Fully Funded Course?
The Fully Funded Course boasts extraordinary success stories from individuals of ALL backgrounds. Individual success in the program is highly correlated with a student's level of commitment to the program guidance and prescribed activities. This is because our guidance is proven and highly effective!
91% of Fully Funded Course students in our 2019 - 2025 memberships who:
have been successful in achieving entrance to one or more graduate schools or fellowships they applied to, most with significant funding offers! Many of our students have also successfully negotiated larger funding packages.
Of the Fully Funded Course students who have applied to graduate schools and fellowships since 2019, there have been more than 700 doctorate and master's acceptances, many with full funding offers or merit-based funding awards (totaling more than $36 MILLION in funding awarded).
What if I'm an older applicant? Am I too old to go to graduate school and receive funding?
You can achieve acceptance and full funding at ANY age. We have worked with many applicants who successfully entered grad school over the age of 40. Older applicants often need support in developing a clear and compelling application story to explain why they are pursuing graduate school at mid- or late-career. This course will show you exactly how to emphasize your strengths, transferable skills, and reasons in a written application. You can find numerous success stories of older applicants here.
Can the Fully Funded Course help me find and apply to competitive graduate fellowships, like Fulbright or the Pickering Fellowship?
Absolutely! The guidance provided in the course is universal for any type of application that requires components like a personal statement, research or project proposal, a resume or CV, optional essays, writing samples, and an interview. Several Fully Funded Course students have won nationally competitive fellowships, such as the Fulbright U.S. Student Award, the Thomas R. Pickering Fellowship, the Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship, the Urban Leaders Fellowship and more.

How long does it take to complete the online course?
The 2026 Fully Funded Courses for graduate school applicants (master's and doctorate) are fully recorded and self-paced and have 12 modules (master's) or 15 modules (doctorate), each with a video component (15-45 minutes/module) and exercises to complete in 2 workbooks: one to document the graduate schools and funding awards you research and the other to craft your winning application outlines and essays. The course takes on average 12 weeks to complete at 1-2 modules per week. However, the prescribed exercises to research best-fit graduate schools and funding, and prepare tailored applications, take a minimum of 3 months of dedicated effort to be successful. The 2026 Fully Funded Course will walk you through every step in the graduate school application process.
Does Fully Funded Course provide strategies for taking the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or other entrance exams?
No. But the good news is, many universities in the United States that once required the GRE no longer require it, and you can seek out these programs if you choose.
If you are still seeking support to undertake the GRE or other entrance exams, we've heard good things from our students about the test prep materials offered by Magoosh.
Does this program provide guidance on applying to master's and doctorate programs outside the U.S. and Canada?
Several Fully Funded Course members have successfully applied to English-based master's and doctoral programs in Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. However, the Fully Funded Course encourages members to find and apply to graduate programs in the U.S. and Canada that guarantee full funding for all incoming students. Full funding opportunities for international students who study in Europe and Australasia are limited and difficult to find. In many cases, the only funding support available is through the achievement of a nationally competitive fellowship like the Fulbright U.S. Student award. If you are an American who wishes to apply to programs in Europe and Australasia, this program provides expert guidance and support on the Fulbright and other international fellowships for Americans.
What are the backgrounds of the Fully Funded Course creator and coaches?
The Fully Funded Course was created by multi-fellowship winner and ProFellow Founder Dr. Vicki Johnson. Dr. Johnson is a graduate of Cornell University (BA) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (MSc). Her PhD from Massey University (NZ) was funded by a Fulbright Award and GNS Science Award, and her PhD dissertation earned the Dean's Award for Exceptional Theses. Dr. Vicki Johnson is known globally as a fellowship and graduate admissions expert. She is author of the Wiley book Pitch Your Potential: The Formula for Winning Dream Jobs, Awards, and Elite Opportunities (January 2026). Learn more about Dr. Vicki Johnson at her website.
The Fully Funded Course coaches have been selected for their own success in achieving entrance to top fully funded graduate programs and fellowships, demonstrating their expertise in developing exceptional applications. But more importantly, they are selected for their teaching and mentorship abilities. While many other graduate admissions agencies match their clients with former Admissions Deans and Directors, in our opinion, being a selector does not demonstrate the ability to teach and mentor diverse candidates on how to choose best-fit programs, navigate unspoken expectations and networking, and prepare authentic applications that are successful. We believe mentorship ability is the most important factor for supporting graduate school applicants, especially applicants from underrepresented backgrounds. Our coaches are the most effective graduate admissions advisors on the market because they deeply understand Dr. Johnson's unique approach to preparing exceptional applications and how to teach this knowledge to diverse audiences. See our long list of reviews and student success stories, which speak to the quality of the support and expertise provided in our program.
Memberships
Are there any prerequisites to joining the Fully Funded Course?
This course advises candidates who are applying to master's and doctoral programs in the U.S., Canada, and UK/Aus/NZ that are delivered in English, which require advanced fluency in English. There are no prerequisites to participate in the Fully Funded Course, but note that master’s and doctoral programs require an eligible 4-year undergraduate degree to enroll, and for some doctoral programs, a master’s may be required. Depending on the universities you apply to, you may also need to take an entrance exam, like the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). If you are a foreign student coming to the U.S., you will need to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a similar English test and have your foreign degrees translated by a third-party firm like World Evaluation Services. (Please note that the Fully Funded Course does not provide guidance on admissions testing, foreign degree evaluation, and international student visas.)
Which membership should I purchase if I am applying to law school (JD degree)?
We recommend purchasing the Fully Funded Master's Applicant Course if you are pursuing a Juris Doctorate (JD). Please note that this course does not cover LSAT test preparation.
Is the Fully Funded Course a good option for support in applying to medical schools (MD, DDS, DVM, and PharmD degrees)?
No. This program was not developed for applicants to medical school, dental school, pharmacy school, or veterinary school and does not provide all the necessary guidance to apply to these professional degree programs successfully. This program does not include test preparation guidance for the MCAT.
Is this course applicable to applicants who are outside of the United States?
Yes, if you have advanced fluency in English and are eligible to undertake graduate study in the U.S. and Canada. Please note that foreign applicants are typically expected to score high on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and must have their undergraduate degrees evaluated by a qualified third party for admissions eligibility. There are also other unmet costs to studying abroad, including application fees, visas, travel and relocation expenses. We recommend that you look into these eligibility requirements and additional costs before purchasing the Fully Funded Course.
